Cozy throws, vintage memorabilia, and family fun complete this adorable game table.

We are a family who really enjoys staying in, so for us, that means a lot of time spent lounging on the couch watching football or baseball, movies, and playing games. Lots of game nights around our place. I've been giving our basement family room a little refresh over the last couple of months and it all sort of jumped off with this cozy little game corner. The best part about it: It cost me the price of a few pillows and throws, because I rounded up things I already had around the house to pull together this space where our family and friends can get together and enjoy some good, ol' fashioned quality time. Today I'm going to show you how this little space all came together and how you can create one of your own.
I started with an old kitchen table that was passed down to me from my grandma. This table has always been one of my favorite things in her home, I mean, look at those claw feet! I had every intention of using it in my dining room, but it just didn't really work the way I wanted it, so I moved it downstairs into a back corner of our family room and it seemed that's just where it was meant to be.
Since hard dining chairs aren't all that cozy, I added some inexpensive pillows and a fur throw. If big, cozy chairs aren't in the budget (they weren't in mine quite yet), pillows and throws are a great way to make those hard chairs a little more warm and inviting.
Then for the fun part. Giving it all a little bit of style. I've struggled with this entire room because we have a lot of sports memorabilia that I want to display, but I also don't want to go to overly "themey" and cheesy with it all.

It also doesn't help that our teams of choice don't exactly have the greatest colors. The smallest things can be game changers though. Case in point: a single scarf. I used a plaid scarf as a table runner and the rest of the pieces all started sort of falling together. The scarf gave it a vintage feel, and also provided a lot of color, which meant a lot more options for accessories.

Next, I sorted through and edited a lot of what we have and picked out some of my favorite pieces that kept with the vintage/retro vibe that was taking shape. We can show our team spirit without having to scream it from every single wall. I'm a huge vintage/thrifting lover, so I have to admit, there was quite a bit to choose from. I ended up with a few banners, one from our favorite team and one from our Alma Mater (which is where we met, so it has special meaning).
There's also a long shelf above the table that runs the length of the wall so I added some of our autographed baseballs, framed magazine covers from significant moments, photos, baseball cards, my husband's high school letter, and then some vintage boxes, books, greenery, and other accents to fill it all in.
And to finish it all off, I added a thrifted brass tray for snacks, some vintage and new games, and a big wire basket on the floor to hold extra blankets and cushions.
