Nature's palette is always one of my favorite places to take color cues; and nothing is more stunning than the hues of a sunset. Warm reds, golden oranges, and honey yellows instantly infuse warmth and envelope your space in style.

Sunset colors are natural partners on the warm side of the color wheel. Working in unison, they create a space ready to add texture and layers.

Don't be afraid of pattern using color as your guide. Just as a real sunset has gradual introduction of color, use that as a guide when decorating with vibrant hues of red, orange, or yellow. Introducing creams, whites, or even dark browns helps to mute brighter shades.

This dining space (above) is a perfect example of a well-done use of pattern, marrying neutrals with sunset colors. The red accent wall really pops without overwhelming the room. The warm pumpkin tones in the room warm it up, while the yellows and creams really add flavor.

A palette that includes red allows you to have fun with color. Here (above) are two great ways to infuse vibrant dashes of red while still creating an inviting space. Subtle orange walls in the living room and the yellow undertones in the beamed ceiling in the kitchen are both great ways to allow the red to peek through without overwhelming the room.

Elegance can be achieved by using sunset colors together. This dining nook (above) glows golden auburn with just the right touch of poppy red in the accent flowers. Warm brown, in the leather and wood chairs, always works as a perfect neutral companion.

Looking for a more fun space? Focusing on orange, this space takes a inspiration from a blazing hot summer sunset. Using salmon as a backdrop and punching it up with hotter shades of rust and burnt amber bring this space to a whole new level of fun.

Not traditionally a sunset hue, blue is a perfect partner for this color scheme, reminiscent of the sky that so wonderfully offsets these colors at the end of a summer day. Just a hint of blue (in the accessories or textiles) can really soften the sunset oranges, reds, and yellows.

A soothing sunset can be brought indoors in practically any space. Whatever your design style--high-end or casual--you can achieve your ideal look simply with nature's companions red, orange, and yellow.
