One blogger shares the beginning of her bedroom renovation, from the painting details to her brand new bed.
Let's get real here. Your bedroom is usually the last room in your house that your guests will see, and therefore it's the last to get some decorating love. Your focus is usually on the spaces that will have company rotating in and out—living room, family room, dining room, kitchen, and bathrooms. Whether you've lived in your home for years, or like us, just moved in, it can be overwhelming trying to decide which space to focus on first.
The fact is, the ability to do it all at once is daunting and expensive. We knew we our hands full with our fixer-upper. The areas that needed our full attention were staring us back in the face day in and day out. This being our second fixer-upper home, we have "lived and learned" through a lot of trial and error with our decorating, and still to this day, we are evolving. One thing we knew for sure is that we didn't want our master bedroom to be put on the back burner!
In our very first home renovation project, the main living area, basement, and kids' rooms received our full attention. Our bedroom was always on the list of "to-be-finished" rooms, and yet, we never got around to it. In our new home, we wanted to make sure that our bedroom was top on the list.
Here is a peek at what our space looked like before (above).
In the master bedroom, we started out by ripping up carpet, painting the trim a crisp white, and painting the walls. New laminate wood floors were installed, and our space was immediately lifted to another level.
Doesn't it feel so much brighter and more sophisticated? While renovating we kept our fingers crossed that we could give the space a lighter feel, all while making it feel cozy!
I could not keep my paws off of my computer, checking out a Skyline Wingback Bed on Wayfair.com. The tufted headboard, the nailhead trim, flecked gray fabirc...I couldn't get enough, nor could I order it fast enough! Even better, my husband was just as smitten with this piece as I was. We knew it would be the perfect fit to fill out our space and create an exceptional grownup getaway!
The fabric name on our bed is groupie pewter, and when the bed came, we were so happy with the quality. Even better, it was simple to put together! We tackled building it during nap time, and by the time our little boys awoke, we had a gorgeous, sturdy, and impressive bed to be jumped upon!
While the tufted back might feel more feminine, but the nailhead trim and straight lines add a nice masculine touch. Perfect to please everybody!
I am thrilled with our new bed. While the rest of this space may not be even close to finished, it is definitely off to a fantastic start!
